Amplifying Marginalized Voices: The Intersection of Race and Queerness

We at Echoes of Us acknowledge how vital intersectionality is to the queer and trans

experience. We center the voices of queer and trans people of color—honoring their narratives,

challenges, and victories.

Anonymous Story:

Treading the path of dual Identities “As a person of color who identifies as queer, I’ve had to find

my way in a world where both my racial background and my sexuality are frequently

misinterpreted. With pride, I walk this path, aware that the intersection of these identities only

enhances my strength."

The Strength of Intersectionality: "To be both queer and of color is to live within a space of

ongoing growth and resilience. Our stories are inseparable, woven into the very fabric of our

identities."

Artwork: “Roots and Wings”

An amazing visual depiction of how queer and trans people of color reclaim their power, growing

from their roots while reaching for the sky. This work honors the beauty of accepting both one’s

cultural heritage and background along with one's gender identity.

We invite you to consider the intersectional aspects of your own experiences and to participate with others in this conversation!
